COMMITTEES AND MEETINGS
SEEC members hold a number of regular meetings. Approximately three times a year SEEC holds All-member plenary meetings. The SEEC Executive also meets regularly, four times a year.
In addition to regular meetings, SEEC currently has two time-limited task and finish groups to ensure strong member input into SEEC's work. For 2010-11 there are two task and finish groups covering Europe and creation of a data dashbooard to monitor the pulse of the South East economy and other key issues. Decentralisation & localism is also an important issue and was the subject of a dedicated workshop in May 2011 - associated information on this is available here.
Previously until spring 2010, the SEEC Executive acted as a South East England Leaders' Board for the purposes of regional planning. Since abolition of regional planning structures, the Executive's focus is now entirely on representing the collective interests of its local government members in the South East and supporting greater devolution of powers to local government.
As a result of welcome changes to dismantle regionalism a number of former committees no longer meet. Brief details of these former meetings where SEEC previously shared responsibility for regional planning with SEEDA can be found on our Previous Structures page.
