South East Councils (SEC) has written to the Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Rt Hon Angela Rayner MP was appointed by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer upon Labour taking office.
The letter congratulates Rayner on her appointment and raises our Securing a Greater South East agenda.
SEC has voiced concern that the South East of England could be at a disadvantage in current devolution arrangements because, as membership of the new Council of the Nations and Regions is currently being proposed, the South East would not have representation.
Considering that the South East has a population and economy larger than Scotland and Wales combined, it is imperative that the region has a seat at the table.
SEC looks forward to working with the Deputy Prime Minister.
