The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for the South East was pleased to host Natural England for an MPs briefing session this week.
Natural England was created by Parliament with a wide set of duties and responsibilities which means it has a key role to play in supporting the delivery of the Governments ambitions for nature recovery.
MPs and Cllrs heard from Natural England’s Regional Director and Area Team Managers in the South East on their role in supporting nature recovery in the South East, including:
- How they are working with partners to get the most from measures that Government has introduced to support nature recovery.
- Efforts to promote a coordinated and integrated approach across central government, local government, businesses, communities, and NGOs, particularly in light of the development of Local Nature Recovery Strategies.
- Working with land managers and farmers and developers to help ensure that our land use choices and nature recovery can do go hand in hand.
The virtual meeting was hosted by South East APPG Chair Sally-Ann Hart MP with speakers from Natural England on their work with Q&A.
Guests included Father of the House of Commons Sir Peter Bottomley MP and former Leader of the Green Party Caroline Lucas MP.
Thank you to all of those who attended.
